Twelfth Sunday of the Year. Year A
Peter Pence collection next
week. By reason of the bond of unity and charity, the
bishops of the church and their people join together
to produce those means which the Apostolic See needs
to exercise its services of the Universal Church. This
is a second collection, therefore to be taken during
the Mass. We are obliged to support the church. The
offerings we make are analogous to a prayer, and should
involve some sacrifice. Second collections are taken
in the Mass because of their importance. The dates for
Diocesan collections are shown in the Southwark Directory.
They should be taken up as a genuine Second Collection
and NOT as a retiring collection (which can seem an
after-thought and does not carry the symbolic gesture
of the people’s offerings being brought up to
the priest) Parish Financial Administration for Parish
Priests: October 2006
The Requiem Mass of Jon Bradshaw
will take place on Thursday at 12noon. We pray for the
repose of his soul and his family at this sad time
Eucharistic Services In the autumn I shall be holding
a short session of preparation so that Eucharistic Ministers
may conduct services in the absence of a priest.
